Heartwarming Dining in TAI O @ Hong Kong

Salty yolk, a popular souvenir in TAI O.

Dear Friends,

Welcome back to my blog.

I would like to share the dining experience in TAI O in this article. Dining experience is not only about the food, but also considering the whole impression and atmosphere when dining.

The Chinese restaurant I regular visit in TAI O, is located in Wing On Street.
It cooks Sichuan and Shanghai cuisines.

       classic Sichuan cuisine
                   + heartwarming atmosphere

Everyone knows Shanghai, but what about Sichuan? Sichuan is a south-western Province in China. Sichuan food is very popular in China, for example:

- Smashed Cucumber with sour sauce,
- "Dan Dan" Noodle (i.e. spicy minced pork noodle),
- Mapo Tofu (i.e. spicy bean curd)
- Kung Bao Chicken (i.e stir-fried spicy chopped chicken with pepper)
- and more....

I usually choose smashed cucumber as appetiser, and Kung Bao Chicken as the main course.

Smashed cucumber is the chopped cucumber served with sauce. The sauce is the mixture of soy sauce, vinegar and chilli etc. It is something like salad and a good appetiser in summer. Every time I visit here, I order it.

                                                             smashed cucumber with sour sauce

                                                                 a good appetizer.....

Kung Bao Chicken, one of my favourite dishes. Within 5 minutes, I finish the meal. When I eat Kung Bao Chicken, I feel I am eating street snack. Well...probably because the chicken / pepper are chopped into one-bite size, it is easy to chew. The spicy taste also creates the appetite.

Kung Bao chicken
yummy....
"Dan Dan'" Noodle originated in Sichuan with very spicy taste. I cannot eat too spicy food so I ask the chef to adjust the spicy level to the minimum. But next time, I want to try spicy...(always want a new challenge in my life!!)

The restaurant is family owned and operated by family members. Sometimes I see the family gathering in the restaurant. Sounds of chatting, laughing are often around me when I am having my dinner. A heartwarming atmosphere you may not find in urban area where all are chain stores and fast food shops.

Probably because of such heartwarming atmosphere, I will visit again...

recall your memory
recall your love
recall something missing in your mind
A memorable dining experience....
